Process

How we work.

Every project follows the same path. We tell you in advance what happens at each stage, what we need from you, and how long it takes. That is the patient half of the work, and it is why the timelines and prices hold.

The six stages

Start to launch

1. A conversation

Free, about thirty minutes. We talk about your business, what the site needs to do, and what good looks like. We will tell you plainly whether we are the right fit. What we need: a sense of what you are trying to achieve. No brief required.

2. A written proposal

Usually within a week. A fixed scope, a fixed price, and a clear timeline, with no surprises later. If anything needs adjusting, we adjust it together before any money changes hands. What we need: your decision, and a 50 per cent deposit to begin.

3. Discovery and planning

One to two weeks. Before we open a design tool, we agree the site’s structure, the few things it must do well, the content plan, and the visual direction. You get a written summary before design begins. What we need: time to talk, decisions on direction, and a starting set of content where possible.

4. Design and build

Two to six weeks. We design and build in iterations, with regular checkpoints, so you see progress as it happens. There is no big reveal at the end: you will have watched it take shape. What we need: feedback at the agreed checkpoints, and your final content and images.

5. Launch

Planned, not rushed. We handle the technical side: domain, HTTPS, redirects from your old site, Search Console, and a full pre-launch check of performance, accessibility, links, and forms. You approve the date, and we do not push sites live on a Friday afternoon. What we need: approval to launch, and access to any existing accounts.

6. Ongoing care

For as long as we host the site. Hosting, monitoring, minor content updates, and a real person to call. Because the site is static, there is no server to patch or database to worry about. We do not hand sites off and walk away. See hosting and care →

Timelines, and what we ask of you

Working together

Most projects run six to ten weeks from signed proposal to launch. Smaller personal sites can be quicker; larger ones can take longer. We give you a realistic timeline in the proposal, and we tell you at once if anything threatens it.

The biggest single factor in how a site turns out is how engaged you are. We work best with people who make time for the conversations the project needs, give clear and decisive feedback (we would far rather hear “I don’t like that” than “it’s fine”), and trust us to make the technical calls.

A good website is not rushed into existence.

The first step is stage one above: a conversation.
